Reading/sending mails with Webmail?

If e-mail needs to be checked seldom or if you are lazy to mess with the configuration of the software (Outlook, Outlook Express or others) you can use the site http://mail.hostnet.lv/ and read/send e-mails.

In this site, under "Webmail Username" you need to write the full e-mail address and in the password field you should write your password. Then click on 'Log Submit'

When you have logged in, you can do all the basic things – read the e-mails, send letters, attach files etc.

The advantage of this site is that the letters, after their reading, are stored in the Hostnet server. It means that in case you do not delete the letter, it remains on the Hostnet server and you can read it again from a different computer with access to Internet.

Why can’t I access the Web Administration panel?

The Web Administration panel uses HTTPS protocol, port 19628. Users with a firewall or PROXY, which does not support HTTPS won’t be able to access the panel and will receive an error message. In this case please contact Your network administrator asking to open the required ports.

How to start using MySql data base?

When starting to use the HostNet services, each user may create its own data base by the means of the Web Administration panel. When the data base is ready, the password of MySql data base must be changed because a default is not created. The next step is to create/upload the MySql tables, which can be done with the help of the Web Administration panel in the section „MySql Administration”, where you will find PHPMYADMIN, a web based MySql table interface.

Why don’t I receive e-mails?

1. You have not transferred your domain zone to Hostnet domain name servers;
2. Your disc quota is full, which means that you cannot store the new e-mails;
3. You have created incorrect SPAM filters.

What is a disc quota?

Disc quota – disc space in megabytes. When you become a HostNet customer, a space on disc is allocated (reserved) depending on the hosting plan chosen by the customer. In cases when the disc space is full, the user is not able to upload files and to receive e-mail.

What are SPAM filters?

Spam filters filter your e-mails by the sender’s e-mail or IP addresses. HostNet servers have a SpamAssassin system, which is a modern spam mail filter, but it does not filter 100% of the spam. Therefore each customer has the possibility to create personalized Spam filters. Be careful when installing/using Spam filters. Insert IP addresses only in cases when the IP address is not within one of the large SMTP1 servers.

How to access e-mail via WAP?

To access your e-mail through a mobile phone, use http://wap.hostnet.lv/

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) allows connecting to internet through a mobile phone suitable for this technology without the help of a computer. You’ll find its information on the screen of your phone. In order to read an internet page through a mobile phone, it must be made in a special WML language (Wireless Mark-up Language). Therefore you won’t be able to read the web pages which are made in HTML language on the phone.
